Artist Description - Defiant Youth (2019) - Oftentimes I am inspired to make collages from seeing the incredible outfits I see of people on the streets mixing and matching patterns and making statements. I wanted to convey with this collage my love of those holding onto their youth in more ways than just fashion.
About Jason Lewis:
Hi, my name is Jason Lewis. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, I have been a lover of vibrant colors, sweet summer stone fruits, and spending time with Cuban food and a hot café con leche. I made my way to the northeast through college, work, and my love for the arts. I have been crafting and creating projects, small and large, for as long as I can remember. I am a freelance collage artist and a costume designer based out of New York City. Over the past several years, I’ve had the pleasure of working on a variety of shows On and Off Broadway as a designer and assistant designer and have made and sold collages online via my Instagram @jtcollagin_it. I first got into theatre and sewing in middle school and it blossomed into a passion that led me to earn my BFA in Costume Design from the Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama. From there I’ve been living in NYC continuing to collage and create and continue to expand my artistic horizons.
